NSDC and IMTMA join hands with Bharat Fritz Werner for WorldSkills India Competition 2018

Bengaluru, Karnataka, India:  Keeping in view that skill development is critical for economic growth and social development, Bharat Fritz Werner Ltd. (BFW) is focused on enhancing skill development ecosystem in India. On this journey to fulfil our commitment, we have partnered with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) to conduct the Regional level WorldSkills India Competition – Southern region for the CNC Milling machines. The competition was held at the BFW premises from June 21-23, 2018.

WorldSkills International is the largest skill competition in the world, organised once every two years in one of the member countries. More than 1300 contestants below the age of 23, compete for gold, silver and bronze medals, in over 50 skills.

Emphasising on BFW’s support to build a skilled nation, Anita Borulkar, Vice President - Human Resources, BFW, said, “With millions of qualified people seeking employment every year, skill development has become one of India’s priorities. BFW endorses skill development to empower individuals, enhance their employability and give them industry experience.”

Founded in 1950, WorldSkills is the global hub for skills excellence and development. WorldSkills brings youth, industries, and educators together to give youth the chance to compete, experience, and learn how to become the best in their skill of choice.

This is the first time India has organized this competition. It is an initiative of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. The competition was held for grass root level workers. State governments conducted district and local competitions in each state to select the best skilled person from their respective states. The state champions were called for regional competitions where they showcased their skills in that particular region. After the regional competitions, the top scorer will make it to the IndiaSkills Competitions at the national level. The national level winners will get an opportunity to take part in the WorldSkills Competition to be held in Russia. The national level winner will be trained for 10-11 months before appearing for the world competition.

BFW is determined to build a skilled manpower to boost the efficiency and the quality of services for the advanced productivity and economic growth.
