Winner of Taj Tea Tabla Talaash Contest felicitated
Tabla Maestro Ustaad Zakir Hussain presents gold tablas to the winner

It was a memorable day for Mrs Sangeeta Surve of Mumbai, one of the lucky winners of the Taj Mahal Tea Tabla Talaash contest. Not only did she receive 22-carat one-kg. gold tablas from Hindustan Lever Ltd, manufacturers of Taj Mahal Tea, India's largest selling premium tea brand, but she also met her idol, Ustaad Zakir Hussain. The Ustaad himself handed over the gold tables to Surve, for having 'located' his missing tablas. The other winners - Mr C B Goel of New Delhi and Mrs Malkit Kaur of Jalandhar - will also shortly receive their gold tablas from the maestro.

The Tabla Talaash contest follows the media campaign that featured Ustaad Zakir Hussain declaring that if anyone succeeds in identifying a tea brand that was superior in taste and flavour to Taj Mahal Tea, he would stop playing the tabla. The next creative stated that since he could not be defeated in the challenge, his detractors ensured that he stopped playing by stealing his tablas. Determined to get his tablas back, the Ustaad offered a pair of gold tablas to anyone who 'recovered' - through coupons in Taj Mahal Tea packs - his missing pair.

Among the thousands of Taj tea consumers who accepted the maestro's challenge, Mrs Sangeeta Surve from Mumbai, Mr C B Goel of New Delhi and Mrs Malkit Kaur of Jalandhar were among the first to succeed, finding Ustaad Zakir Hussain's tablas in their Taj Mahal Tea packs.

"I am lucky to have found a coupon with the picture of a pair of tablas in my pack," said Sangeeta Surve, smilingly adding, "but I am, after all, a Taj Tea drinker! I feel privileged not only because I won the prize, but also because my choice of tea is the same as that of my favourite artiste's. I am a great admirer of Ustaad Zakir Hussain's renditions. And to not only get the gold tablas, but also get these from the Ustaad himself, has been like a dream come true. I will never forget this experience."

The Tabla Talaash contest by Taj Mahal Tea is one of the largest offerings of its kind in this category in India. The magnificent gifts include four bumper prizes of a pair of one-kg 22-carat gold tablas, ten first prizes of 22-carat gold jewellery worth Rs 20,000 each, and 10,000 second prizes of silver coins and several thousand consolation prizes. Thousands of winners have been identified across the country.
