SUNSILK ANNOUNCES JAWED HABIB AS THE NEW BRAND AMBASSADOR

Sunsilk today announced a new brand ambassador, leading hair expert Jawed Habib of the renowned chain of Habib's Hair Salons. Jawed also runs a successful hair training academy.

Jawed is one of the most celebrated hairstylists in the country today. With this association, Jawed will endorse Sunsilk products and feature in the forthcoming advertising campaigns. Under the Sunsilk aegis he will also train hair professionals across the country on the emerging trends within the industry, helping them to come on par with international standards.

The announcement of the new brand ambassador came during a recently concluded two-day hair care event in Bangalore. Day one was a seminar on hair care sponsored by Sunsilk and organized by the Cosmetology Society of India (CSI). Hair and beauty professionals were addressed by eminent and well-respected experts like Dr Rekha Sheth (Dermatologist and President, Cosmetology Society of India) and Dr S C Rajendran (Medical Director, National Skin and Hair Care Centre, Bangalore). Hair and Beauty experts Jawed Habib and Marvie Beck did demonstrations for the benefit of the professionals.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. D. Shivakumar, General Marketing Manager, Personal Products (Hair), Hindustan Lever said, "It was an obvious choice since Jawed reflects the contemporary Indian youthfulness and passion. Sunsilk product offerings are amongst the best and the association with Jawed strives to bring about the value proposition of the brand."

During the second day Sunsilk Salon awards were presented to the best hair stylist. The panel of judges included Sunsilk hair ambassadors - Coleen Khan and Jawed Habib; Blossom Kochar and Marvie Beck. Bangalore hair experts, Margaret Leong and Manjul Gupta were also on the panel of Judges. The Bangalore winners will get an opportunity to participate in 'Image India 2001', an International Beauty Fair to be held in Mumbai in March 2001.

The competition categories from which the first three winners were chosen, were Hairdressing - where the professionals had to present a 'contemporary fashion look', Beautiful Brides - which was a complete hair and cosmetic makeover and Inter Salon - in which the professionals had to present a complete party look.
