(BW)(NY-PALL)(PLL)
Pall Corporation Names Former Red Cross Executive to Head Medical Business
East Hills, N.Y., United States

Allan S. Ross joins Pall Corporation (NYSE:PLL) as President of the Company's Medical division effective October 4. Ross, an eight-year veteran of the American Red Cross Biomedical Services, most recently served as senior vice president and chief operating officer.

Mr. Ross was responsible for 36 regional blood centers and nine testing laboratories serving almost 2,500 hospital customers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. He led strategic initiatives that increased sales and profitability of all key ARC product lines and improved the efficiency of its blood centers and national testing laboratories. These centers collect and distribute almost half of the U.S. blood supply.

Earlier this month, Pall reported fiscal 2004 sales of $1.77 billion. This includes almost $350 million in sales generated by its Medical businesses.

Pall Medical is a leading supplier of leukocyte reduction filters to blood centers and hospitals around the world. One of Pall's newest products, the enhanced Bacterial Detection System, is increasingly being used to test platelets for contamination. Bacterial contamination of platelets is the leading infectious cause of transfusion-transmitted fatalities. The Company is also developing the Leukotrap(R) Affinity Prion Reduction filter in response to increasing evidence that vCJD, the human form of Mad Cow disease, may be transmitted by donor blood. The Company expects to launch this unique product next year as part of its ongoing commitment to blood safety.

In addition to technologies that enhance the safety of the world's blood supply, other Pall products including the Pall-Aquasafe Water Filter, Ultipor(R) Breathing System Filters and Posidyne(R) Intravenous Filter Sets are also on the front lines of defense against hospital-acquired infections. The prevention of healthcare-associated infections has become a top priority for U.S. and international health care systems.

Mr. Ross assumes responsibility for Pall's blood center, hospital and OEM businesses. Roberto Perez, senior vice president Pall Life Sciences said, "Allan's leadership and nearly three decades of blood banking experience will be a tremendous benefit to Pall and to our customers as we work together to raise standards of medical care and lower their associated costs."

Mr. Ross is a member of the Red Cross/Red Cross Societies Global Advisory Panel on Blood Programs. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Blood Banks.

He holds an M.B.A. from City University in Bellevue, Washington and a B.S. degree in Biology and Medical Technology from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.
