Delphi Automotive Systems (NYSE: DPH) strengthens its position as a leader in the global steering column market by winning a high volume new business contract with Ford Motor Company. This new contract for Delphi's energy absorbing steering columns for a future model Ford vehicle is Delphi's first U.S. steering-related contract with Ford. A global leader in systems integration and energy absorbing technology, Delphi has also won several other new steering contracts with other leading automakers in Europe, Brazil and Asia during the past six months representing nearly $75 million over the contract life.
"Delphi's knowledge in vehicle structure and electrical architecture plays a key role in our ability to meet our customers' steering column requirements," stated Paul J. Tosch, president of Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems and vice president of Delphi Automotive Systems. "This knowledge coupled with more than nine decades of experience and leading edge column technology positions Delphi with a strong competitive advantage in the marketplace."
