Delphi to present 'Tomorrow’s Technology' at Auto Expo 2002
To display the 'AutoScope' car, showcasing its vast product portfolio
New Delhi, Delhi, India

Delphi Automotive Systems, the world’s largest and most diversified supplier of automotive components and systems, will present its latest high-technology products at the forthcoming mega event, Auto Expo 2002, to be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from January 15 to January 22, 2002. Delphi exhibits will be displayed at Stall no 1839, Hall 18.

The star attraction at the Delphi counter will be the "AutoScope" car, a unique advanced technology display vehicle that showcases Delphi’s automotive product portfolio.

Developed in Australia and first unveiled at the Australian Automotive Fair (AATF) 2001, the futuristic fiberglass "AutoScope" car provides a 3-D virtual-reality presentation of automotive components and systems. It offers an in-depth view of Delphi’s technology portfolio.

This new interactive concept in auto-show exhibit technology will take the visitors on a virtual tour of Delphi's unique world of technology. A laser beam will scan the vehicle surface and focus on images, drawings and specifications, which will then be displayed on a large plasma screen suspended above the rotating concept car.

"Our exhibits reflect our strong presence in India and our commitment to the growth of the Indian automotive industry. Through our manufacturing presence in India we plan to usher in advanced, world class technology in the country and promote extensive localization of production", said Ravi Khanna, Managing Director Delphi Automotive Systems Ltd.

"The growth recorded by the Indian automotive industry in the last five years has been remarkable. The development on the technology front has been particularly significant, and Delphi has played a key role in this process of evolution that has placed the Indian automotive component industry on the world map," said Brad Maggart, Director of Marketing, Planning & Communications, Delphi Asia Pacific

The exhibits in the Delphi stall mirror Delphi's technology. On display will be Automotive Consumer electronics that include Mobile Entertainment and Communication Systems with a visor-style overhead monitor, wireless transmitter, infrared wireless headphones, mounting brackets and installation hardware, DVD and MP3 Players.

Delphi will also exhibit its entire range of products produced locally, these will include Front Corner Modules, Gas Charged Shock Absorbers and Modular strut assemblies, Engine Management Systems, Converter& Canisters, Compressors, Heat exchangers, HVAC modules, Wiring Harness, Switches & Connection Systems, Non-automotive Harness, Drive Shafts and Steering Columns.

The Delphi Technology Show on Wheels, a transparent acrylic display car mounted on a Swaraj Mazda 49LWB truck chassis will also showcase Delphi’s aftermarket products. The vehicle is a part of the company’s first-of-its-kind ongoing nationwide aftermarket consumer contact programme. The programme builds proximity and consolidates Delphi’s relationship with its aftermarket customers providing them with value services such as free car service check-ups by qualified technicians.

The programme has already traveled to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. Currently in Delhi the programme will travel to Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Orissa.
