Commerce One 5.0 Delivers Complete Source-to-Pay Solutions on New Business Process Management Platform
Provides Visibility and Control Across Enterprise Sourcing and Procurement for Short-Cycle Return on Investment for Indian corporates
New Delhi, Delhi, India

Commerce One (Nasdaq: CMRC), the Business Internet Company, has announced the release of Commerce One 5.0™, a new suite of collaborative sourcing and procurement solutions built on Commerce One's unique collaborative platform for Indian corporates. The new suite provides full automation of enterprise source-to-pay processes, while also enabling deep connections between an organization and its trading partners.

Designed for implementation on a modular basis, the Commerce One 5.0 suite provides a lower cost of entry and enables customers to focus on key areas, such as procurement, sourcing and auctions, to help achieve short-cycle return on investment. The suite also enables customers to continue building and expanding their e-commerce capabilities over time by adding new modules and platform capabilities.

Commerce One 5.0 combines premier e-commerce buying applications, Commerce One Buy™ and Commerce One Source™, with the Commerce One Collaborative Platform™, a unique work flow and business process management platform that links applications to support business processes within and across enterprises. Customers can develop business process flows tailored for their unique enterprise, industry, region and trading partner requirements, without costly customization.

"The business process management enhancement to the Commerce One platform provides key capabilities sorely lacking in the Indian market," says Vivek Agarwal, Chief Operating Officer, Commerce One India Distributor Operations.

"The combination of leading-edge automation solutions for the procurement process, along with the capability to forge connections between buyers and suppliers, has delivered significant return to Commerce One customers. We are working to bring these value additions to our Indian clients" adds Vivek Agarwal.

"With 5.0, we are combining best-of-breed solutions for automating sourcing and procurement, and a collaborative platform that links applications within the enterprise and makes them accessible to trading partners," said Mark Hoffman, chairman and CEO of Commerce One. "Building these bridges for collaborating and transacting with trading partners is vital to reducing the costs of doing business."

Commerce One 5.0 includes Commerce One Source, Commerce One Buy and the Commerce One Collaborative Platform.

Commerce One Source, available today for Indian corporates, is a comprehensive solution that provides visibility and control across the entire strategic sourcing process. Source capabilities include:

RFx templates allow buyers to build complex bid packages. Buyers can split orders between various suppliers, bundle line items and specify quantitative mapping for qualitative responses. Suppliers can bid on partial or complete packages.

The negotiation feature, including both single and multi-round capabilities, enables structured one-on-one negotiation.

Quotation analysis supports "what if" scenarios and allows comparison of bid packages, qualitative responses, and bundled packages.

Supplier performance management provides supplier scorecards that give performance reports, ratings and categorization, supplier listings, performance analysis reports, and price tracking.

The sourcing activity-reporting feature delivers capabilities ranging from basic process activity reports to spend and performance analysis by line item, commodity, and supplier.

Commerce One auction handles a variety of auction types and bids to source anything from commodity items to complex engineered goods. Reverse auction supports both strategic and ad hoc sourcing efforts, with interactive bidding functionality for direct and indirect goods and services. Enhanced multivariable bidding allows buyers to analyze incoming bids by rank, weight and user-defined formulas.

The sourcing intelligence module enables in-depth, multi-dimensional spend and performance analysis, ensuring enterprises have the information required to develop an effective sourcing strategy. Using sourcing intelligence, buyers can analyze spending by commodity, supplier, project, or contract.

Contract management addresses the entire lifecycle of the contract, providing tools for creation, review, negotiation, award and management. Information from the RFx process is automatically populated into a contract. Analysis tools improve contract compliance through supplier performance ratings for attributes such as price, delivery and quality.

Commerce One Buy powers procurement of goods and services for employees across the enterprise, ensuring purchases are for the right items, for the right reason, and at the right price. Modules include:

The procurement module automates the entire purchasing cycle through real-time, inter-enterprise collaboration, including purchasing approval controls, order visibility and tracking. Procurement supports multiple currencies, languages, data formats, and taxes, and is designed to integrate seamlessly with back-office legacy systems.

Contract labor provides the workflows and business rules to monitor and control contingent labor spending, including time and expense processes, approvals, payment terms and visibility over enterprise-wide contractor usage.

Commerce One auction supports spot-sourcing for indirect and direct goods as well as services, enabling supplier selection based on multiple variables. Auction helps companies drive optimal pricing through open-market bidding and then automatically creates purchase orders from winning bids.

The invoice management and payment module streamlines the complete invoice-to-payment process, eliminating costs and inaccuracies associated with re-keying invoice information. It helps improves cash flow through the strategic management of payment terms and speeds dispute resolution through real-time information exchange between buyers and suppliers.

Supplier self-service makes it simple for suppliers to manage online catalogs, pricing and orders through a browser, eliminating supplier cost-of-entry issues and supporting virtually any supplier content infrastructure.

Trading partner connectivity speeds integration with trading partners' legacy systems by enabling direct, system-to-system communication between buyers and suppliers. Real-time information exchange cuts costly delays and reduces manual steps to drive efficiencies in all aspects of buyer-supplier collaboration and transactions.

The Commerce One Collaborative Platform extends Commerce One Buy and Commerce One Source by orchestrating and integrating e-commerce activities and business processes within and outside the enterprise. The Collaborative Platform uniquely supports the critical capabilities to enable e-commerce--business process management, buyer-and-supplier transaction management, enterprise application integration and B2B integration. Platform capabilities include:

The community manager provides the tools to manage collaboration and information with a community of business partners. It enables customers to create, maintain, and scale a supplier portal to support end-to-end buying processes.

The process manager tailors workflows to support industries, companies, and individual supplier relationships. It helps to construct simplified, repeatable processes across the enterprise, creating the opportunity for new levels of efficiency, best practices, contract compliance, and ROI.

The web services framework provides tools to leverage applications with a network of trading partners. It also allows buyers to leverage the many web services available through Commerce One-powered e-marketplaces, such as payment and logistics.

The transaction manager provides the messaging, routing, security, and connectivity required to automate business processes and transactions between different systems within and across businesses. Based on a secure and scalable routing infrastructure, it ensures that mission-critical documents securely reach the intended recipient.

xCBL is the foundation of the Commerce One platform, providing the common language and business context needed to exchange information and orchestrate processes between applications and trading partners. It is a library of business documents for key transactions and is rapidly emerging as the common language for online business document exchange. OASIS, a leading interoperability standards body, selected xCBL as the starting point for UBL (Universal Business Language)-expected to be the global standard for Web-based commerce.

The suite of connectors and tools allows the integration of Commerce One solutions with legacy applications. These connectors allow enterprises to incorporate existing enterprise data into new procurement and sourcing activities, making all relevant information available for decision-making.

The flexible business intelligence framework collects and analyzes data across applications to optimize spend analysis and contract compliance. It also enables buyers to analyze processes and rate suppliers based on past performance.

With Commerce One 5.0, Indian companies also gain extraordinary flexibility for discovering and transacting with suppliers that are already "e-commerce capable." ThroughGate2biz.net, the web-based e-infrastructure network for trading partners, enterprises running Commerce One 5.0 gain immediate, free access to - transaction-ready suppliers, representing many of the India's top companies.
