AUGUST SALES REINFORCE FORD IKON LEADERSHIP
Cumulative sale since launch reaches 14,194

New Delhi, Delhi, India

Ford India has sold 1492 units of Ford IKON in the month of August. Having notched a cumulative sale of 14,194 units since its launch in November 1999, the Ford IKON has reinforced its leadership in the segment. In the calendar year 2000, 12,601 units of Ford IKONs have been sold. With an 800 per cent increase in sales of Ford cars compared to August last year, Ford India has zoomed way ahead of competition. Ford IKON is now incontrovertibly the leader in the mid-size segment.

Announcing the sales figures for August, John Fink, Vice President, Marketing Sales & Services, Ford India, said, "The Ford IKON sales has led the midsize segment month after month with over 14,000 units sold since November 1999. While such response clearly confirms the IKON's leadership, it also inspires us to continually improve and add value to product for customer delight."

Ford India has already had tremendous success with the Ford IKON CLXi (petrol), 1.6 Rally Sport, 1.6 ZXi and 1.8 ZXi (diesel). The recently launched version of the car, the Ford IKON EXi has further consolidated Ford India's presence in the mid size car market.

Ford India is expanding the sales and service network from the current level of 47 dealer outlets in 41 cities across India, to 66 outlets in 59 cities by the end of year 2000, thus enhancing the reach and the level of customer satisfaction. Starting from August 18, Ford India has already announced the appointment of new dealerships in Mumbai, Goa, Secunderabad and Kozhikode (Calicut).

Ford India launched the Ford IKON in November 1999 in complete compliance with the Euro II norms – five months ahead of the stipulated time. All the models of the Ford IKON are Euro II compliant across all regions in India, a full year ahead of government regulations.

"Ford has a worldwide commitment to environmental protection and emission control," affirmed Phil Spender, Managing Director, Ford India. "Buyers of the Ford IKON across the country can be at ease, since the car was compliant with Euro II norms five months in advance of the deadline set by the Supreme Court."

Ford India is committed to the ‘Josh' spirit and to ‘Zinda Dil' consumers and is closely aligned with Ford Motor Company's vision of becoming the world's leading consumer company for automotive products and services.
