AGILENT TECHNOLOGIES ACQUIRES DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY AND DYNAMIC TO ACCELERATE DELIVERY OF IP AND ROUTER TEST SOLUTIONS
Acquisition enhances Agilent's solutions for next?generation network and equipment testing

New Delhi, Delhi, India

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) has announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire Digital Technology Inc. and its sister company, Dynamic Digital Technology Private Limited. Digital Technology, based in Bedford, Mass., and Dynamic, based in Calcutta, India, operate as one company (DTI) with 34 employees, and together represent a leading developer of network-protocol test solutions. The purchase of these privately held companies is expected to extend Agilent's ability to deliver test solutions used by network equipment manufacturers and service providers to develop, select and deploy next?generation, IP?based products and services. Financial terms were not disclosed.

DTI specializes in tools that ensure that networking and internetworking protocol software implementations conform to technical standards and operate correctly.

DTI is currently focused on development of multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) testing capabilities. MPLS enables service providers to define specific packet delivery paths through the Internet. This will allow providers to offer IP services with quality of service guarantees and permit packet?based networks to deliver reliability comparable to today's circuit?switched public network.

"Manufacturers of network equipment, such as terabit routers, and their customers face increasing competitive pressure to bring high?speed IP services to market quickly," said Bill Wood, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Advanced Networks Division. "The addition of DTI's resources and expertise will help us extend the capabilities of our industry?leading QA Robot and RouterTester platforms, and provide customers with solutions to ensure that their products and services meet the demands of the real?world Internet."

"At DTI, we have been at the cutting edge of voice and data convergence, concentrating on automated test solutions that help backbone infrastructure providers deploy new technologies and services," said Buddhadeb Biswas, president of Digital Technology and managing director of Dynamic. "Now, as part of Agilent, we can apply our expertise globally to a more comprehensive range of test solutions and help customers across a wider spectrum of future technologies."

In addition to its MPLS test suites, current DTI product offerings also include industry?leading ATM conformance?testing tools. The company is also actively involved in development of test tools for voice-over-IP (VoIP)?related protocols such as H.323 and the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). More information on DTI is available at www.dtix.com.

Agilent's QA Robot is the industry's leading platform for routing software testing; Agilent's RouterTester is the industry's leading platform for testing next?generation terabit routers. More information is available at www.agilent.com/comms/IPtest.
