2005 International CES Announces Extensive Lineup of Educational Sessions; Conference Program Amplifies the Scope and Impact of Consumer Technology

The 2005 International CES(R) announced Wednesday its extensive lineup of more than 100 conference sessions designed to help educate attendees on the latest consumer electronics industry trends and provide hands-on training during the 2005 International CES, January 6-9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"The conferences offered at the 2005 International CES are another example of how CES is the center stage for consumer technology," said Karen Chupka, vice president of events and conferences for the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the producer of CES. "Attendees can see the latest and greatest in consumer electronics and also learn about the key issues and trends."

The diverse program includes conference sessions on such hot product categories as digital imaging, electronic gaming, wireless technology and home entertainment.

In addition, a number of segments offer certified training courses in areas such as home installation, mobile electronics, satellite television and home networking.

The 2005 International CES conference program will consist of nine tracks that cover virtually every aspect of business and consumer technology in the world. They include:

Car Technologies

These sessions cover the latest high-performance technology, including wireless and satellite, that is driving the mobile electronics market.

Emerging Technologies

Biometrics, robotics and broadband are some of the emergency technologies covered in this track.

Gartner G2

The digital media explosion in music, television and photos brings exciting opportunities in the consumer marketplace for pipes, platforms and content. Gartner's consumer research helps businesses determine which technologies will have the strongest impact on consumer spending. From home media centers to automotive electronics, Gartner's analysts will share their research and perspectives on the digital consumer and the digital home to help attendees develop a successful business plan for 2005 - and beyond.

Home and Lifestyle Entertainment

This track will explore the latest advances in everything from optical recording to portable video.

Home Networking

This session digs deep into the latest trends and intelligence in broadband, wireless and smart systems within new construction and existing homes, and presents CEA's TechHome Basic Training.


A total of seven SuperSessions are available and will cover a wide range of consumer electronics and their future. The SuperSessions will be moderated by some of the top industry insiders and will provide in depth discussions to benefit the attendee.

CE Vision

This track covers the next breaking strategies for international business, industrial design, copyright legislation, retail training and courting today's youth.


Attendees will explore the new mobile marketplace, where convergent devices, WiFi, GPS, games and "hotspots" add up to a wireless revolution.

Wireless Retail

Take advantage of these innovative new sales programs, created by the industry's top producers, to grab your share of the widening pie.

Plug In and Drive: Automotive Electronics

Hear industry leaders discuss the current challenges and opportunities facing the automotive industry.


The Digital Home Conference and Showcase, produced by Parks Associates in partnership with CEA, will host four sessions at CES focusing on various aspects of digital entertainment. Sessions will be hosted by an executive panel and will examine the evolution of the consumer music experience, portable entertainment devices, digital distribution of media, and the management of home networks.

Digital Hollywood

These specialized sessions cover digital content and mobile entertainment.

CES Game Power Showcase and Forum

Encounter the fast growing pace of the games industry as the premier sector of the entertainment cultural experience through new and expanding creative technologies in development, in platform and in delivery.

MECP Training

MECP identifies hands-on solutions to problems such as eliminating noise, selecting proper gauge wires and ground locations, and dealing with customer issues. Participants have the opportunity to gain MECP certification by completing the program.

Mobile Entertainment

This track represents the future of the digital consumer experience. Learn how the music, film, TV, news and information industries have transitioned to the digital lifestyle, and the device and wireless providers have enabled the broadband experience, to make mobile entertainment one of the primary platforms for entertainment.

Park Associates Pre-Show Workshop

Parks Associates will host a pre-show workshop, The Digital Home Highway, providing consumer data, insight, and analysis on broadband services, multimedia applications and platforms, on-demand content, DRM, and the connected consumer. The workshop will feature information from Parks Associates' most recent consumer studies and industry reports.

Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association (SBCA)

This program discusses the rapidly advancing consumer satellite business, as well as residential and commercial satellite antenna installation with a final installer exam.

Storage Visions

The 2005 Storage Visions Conference addresses data storage requirements for content creation, content distribution and consumer electronics.

International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE)

This track presented by the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society is where key technologies, products, services and architectures for consumer entertainment and information delivery are shared and discussed.

Digital Entertainment Training

This program covers Digital Photography, Digital Video, Apple's iLife, Home Audio, Digital Imaging, Multimedia, Macromedia and Web start up through in-depth demonstrations and workshops.

Consumer VoIP Summit

A new track at the 2005 International CES, the Consumer VoIP Summit was launched by pulver.com and looks at the evolvement of broadband to help attendees understand the newest trends, strategies, and profit opportunities in the convergence of communication, entertainment and collaboration.
